AWG, the line that stayed with me wasn't about models, chips, or robots, it was: "Adoption is outrunning adaptation." Technology seems to be evolving exponentially, while humans are still running on firmware that hasn't had a serious update for over 50,000 years. The irony is that we devote enormous effort to aligning AI with human values, while perhaps investing too little effort in aligning humans with the AI-enabled world we're rapidly creating. If the singularity is ultimately a race, maybe it isn't between AI and humanity at all, but between our inventions and our ability to adapt to them. AWG, every edition of The Innermost Loop leaves me feeling simultaneously better informed and less certain than I was ten minutes earlier. Perhaps uncertainty is the update rule for human civilization. Or am I simply overfitting the training data?

Mate, at the moment I’m rereading Superintelligence by Nik Bostrom. In the first few pages he talks about the idea of the Singularity as proposed by Vernor Vinge. This book was written in 2014 it pre-dates most of the Singularity things that are happening right now. In the first few pages he has a peculiar aversion to using the word Singularity. Perhaps you should consider this as well. Or not. Keep it up very interesting comments.
