As much as I love these AWG deep dives into where A. I. is taking us... with so much negative press being spread lately about Data Centers, etc., this may be the time to open Pandora's box.
Someone, needs to daily publicize real-world examples of how A. I. is already making the life of average people better. Sell the positives: like curing cancer, doing your taxes for free, explaining your bloodwork report, explaining how to program your sprinkler system, making a new website acceptable to Google, explaining the best way to disassemble and fix an engine, and a thousand how-tos around the house and office.
If you learn to use A. I., you can save thousands $$$ just by not having to call a genius to reprogram your TV or get your computer and H.P. printer to work together. The list is unlimited, but most people have not used A. I. to make their lives easier. YouTube is packed with A. I. knowledge, but the Luddites who are going to fight A. I. won't lift a finger to learn how it can make their lives easier and better. Those of us who are standing around lamenting the failure of our schools need to take the bull by the horns and figure out how to beat the system that is trying to keep our kids from using A. I. Not everyone is going to run a company using this knowledge, but anyone can learn how to 'ask A. I.' for help and instructions that will quickly 'make your day'.
Peter, I am noticing AI is moving in the direction of suppling solutions rather than just answering questions. They still do that but doing whatever (and with robots, it can get physically done) is the next step. Oh for the day I can say, "Reginald, organize and memorize everything in my wife's sewing room, please"
Hugging Face shopping itself at $13B after a containment failure is a governance signal the open weights community has not fully processed. If the most prominent open model hub is navigating a security incident while simultaneously pursuing a growth-stage valuation, the enterprise risk calculus for organizations building production systems on open-weight models needs to include platform stability as a genuine variable.
Re Altman's comments...I think we are going to need an Ai native company to dislodge a large incumbent to kickstart the Great Economic Change. No front line or middle management worker is excited to replace themselves.
George, I beg to differ...at least in a small sector of the incumbent. I am the sole owner, designer, pencil pusher of a small home design company. I welcome AI to help design (run AutoCAD) to code and streamline the process. But more, lots more....I want that AI to inspect his designs, fill out and file all the forms, permit applications, plan reviews, do the engineering, oversee the build, sign and paste the Occupancy Permit sticker, deal with the lending agency, insurance and live happily in the home forever....think Dobie in Harry Potter. Hurry Sundown.
I hear you Greg, but I was thinking about large firms. I don't see Ford,
Airbus, Coca-Cola, etc firing 80% of their workers and replacing them with Ai agents until a truly Ai native competitor forces them to. The inertia is too great and the internal immune system is slow walking the change.
Have you tried to get a building permit lately? Freaking nightmare. Long ago I was a building inspector then General Contractor, now a designer (45 year's.) Lovely people at Community Development but nightmare process and time consuming beyond belief.
Yes and thank you very much 😊

AWG is a regular on Moonshots, and they 'sell the positive' all the time.

sci non-fy just keeps expanding - wow! The disclosure keeps piling on more voices
